4M (6.43k) in 0:39:19 this afternoon

Not my 5k running pace but not too shabby either. Hope to be bangin' out 5 mile runs [in 50 minutes] this winter on the treadmill.

Back in the gym

I took a few month off of going to the gym since I was doing all my running outdoors. Last week I rejoined SnapFitness and paid up six months in advance. I'm super excited about getting back into shape and I banged out a 5k in 28:30 tonight. It feels really, really good and I'm looking forward to stopping in a few times a week this winter!

I'm chillin' at home tonight listening to the album by Pete Yorn & Scarlett Johansson on myspace. It's pretty cool so far, and I might pick it up on iTunes at some point. Glad that finally has a wishlist feature!

My first 10k race



Woke up early today to run a course with my friend Kevin. I'm happy to do runs for a good cause and needless to say, I love keeping in shape. I added the route as close as I remember it to the above map but it might not be 100% accurate in the city section of the course.

I'm pretty excited about the run, though I was a bit short of my goal time. I think I paced myself a bit slow overall, and wanted to break the hour mark. Anyway, I banged it out in 61:21 and now I've got a time to beat next year.

Fitness blog, Feb. 27, 2009

Well work has slowed down a bit so I'm keeping myself busy at the gym. I go to Snap Fitness in my neighborhood and I really love it. Today I did my first true five mile run and it took 53 minutes going between 5.2-6.2mph. I run with an incline of .5-1.0% which recreates running outdoors with small hills and wind resistance. According to one article on Runner's World Magazine online I burned 488 calories on the treadmill. Not bad for an hours work!
