Isthmus newspaper cover, May 1, 2009

Madison Wisconsin editorial photograph of Matt Rothschild
Last week, I photographed Matt Rothschild, the editor of The Progressive magazine which is celebrating it's 100th anniversary this weekend. The shoot went smoothly and the weather cooperated which is always an added bonus. Pick up Isthmus for the full story including information on The Progressive's weekend celebrations with performances and appearances by: Ani DiFranco, Indigo Girls, Dar Williams, Robert Redford and Sen. Russ Feingold. Photograph: Timothy Hughes, Photo Asst. Karen Zanoya, Art Director: Carolyn Fath.

Model portfolio development with Ashland

Had a very successful shoot with an emerging fashion model named Ashland today. She has a fantastic look and I really enjoyed working with her. We are going to edit down the photo set and retouch around 12 images and build a comp card from there. Debbie Ahrens did hair and makeup and let me just say, she does incredible work.

Ed Hardy Spring/Summer 2009 runway photos

I photographed the Ed Hardy by Christian Audigier runway party last night and had a really good time. It was pretty dark in the club for runway since they didn't turn on the house lights. I had to shoot at 1250 ISO, but managed to get a few decent shots.

Isthmus Dining Guide 2009 front cover

Dining Guide 2009
I enjoy photographing food (and evidently I'm decent at it). It's a challenge doing something new with it each time and quite frankly any assignment with vivid colors and an extremely shallow depth of field appeals to me. There are a far fewer x-factors to hinder a food shoot. Restaurants are generally very accommodating, you don't have weather to contend with, lighting gear is fairly minimal, and once you've developed a system your equipment checklist won't change that much from year to year. Not sure who designed the cover so here's the staff art credits: Carolyn Fath, Tommy Washbush, Todd Hubler, Ellen J. Meanie, David Michael Miller. Isthmus | The Daily Page
